Data Usage and Cookies
Last update: 29 Dicembre 2025
This policy explains how MyWorld uses cookies and similar technologies to recognize you when you visit our App. It explains what these technologies are, why we use them, and your rights to control their use.
1. What are Cookies?
Cookies are small data files stored on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website or app. They are widely used to make services work efficiently and provide analytical information.
2. Types of Cookies We Use
- Essential Cookies: Necessary for the App to function (e.g., Firebase authentication, session management). Without them, the App cannot function properly.
- Performance Cookies: They help us understand how users interact with the App (e.g., Google Analytics, if enabled) so we can improve performance.
- Functionality Cookies: They remember your choices (e.g., preferred language, map style) to provide a more personalized experience.
3. Local Storage
In addition to cookies, MyWorld heavily uses the browser's Local Storage (or similar technologies like IndexedDB) to store data that is not sent to servers unless you decide to publish it. This includes:
- MyWorld Data: The geographical coordinates of your private points, descriptions, and references to local media files.
- Trips and Itineraries: Drafts of AI-generated or manually created trips.
- UI Preferences: Map display settings and menu states.
Please note that clearing browser data or cache will delete this locally saved data.
4. How to Control Cookies
You can set your browser to refuse all or some cookies, or to alert you when websites set or access cookies. If you disable or refuse cookies, please note that some parts of the App may become inaccessible or not function properly.
5. Consent Management
Upon your first access, you will be presented with a banner to choose your cookie preferences. We save your choice for 6 months.
Revoking Consent: You can change your mind or revoke your consent at any time by going to Settings > Privacy & Data > Manage Cookies. This action will delete your saved preferences and show the banner again on your next startup.
